SCUA 0.14.0 is out

August 12, 2026

A month of work in one release, and the widest one yet. The signed and notarized builds for macOS and both Linux architectures are up, with checksums.

The performance arc landed: the interpreter now beats the Lua 5.4 interpreter on our suite's overall score with no flags at all, the JIT inlines recursion deeper and compiles linear recursion as loops on both architectures, plain number arrays store unboxed automatically, and entity-style records-in-a-list code reaches full JIT speed.

The embedding arc landed: session hibernation, including mid-call freezes that wake with the answer in hand, and scua_return_pending, which lets your own registered modules park and hibernate like the built-ins.

And the day-one experience got attention: scua init scaffolds a runnable project, the debugger resolves imports and steps across modules, and the editors explain fn and return forms on hover.

The changelog has the full accounting. If you are evaluating SCUA, this is the release to pick up.
